It's laughable how many silly setbacks I've had since I've tried to print this design. I have some errands to do today before I go to the Empty Bottle to see M.O.T.O., but I see people are still liking and reposting my original video about this, so I thought I better write a quite note.
I'm going to take the weekend to print. Originally I thought these things would be ready by Friday, but like I said, setbacks. Here's what I think I'm going to make now:
250 Signed and Numbered Art Prints
I thought about keeping it an open edition and selling as many as I possibly can (for the benefit of my bank account) and also thought about doing a much smaller run (like 50). I think signed and numbered stuff is cool. While all my prints are handmade, if something is numbered you feel like you're part of a club. I have to crunch some numbers and see what I have and need for shipping supplies, but I'm going to aim for $30 with shipping included (sorry, you'll still have to pay a little tax on top of that). So I landed on 250 because that's the birthday America will be celebrating this year. Trump mentions it often. This image reminds me that on the 250th birthday of our founding, Americans still possess the sprit of resistance.
Digital Files in Vector, PDF, Raster Formats
In addition to an SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) of the original design, I plan to include PDFs and JPEGs of the original image, the image for 3:4 ratio, and variations on the original design (like maybe a hooded ICE agent). I'm looking at an introductory price of $3 for early bird adopters, then going to $5 later. I feel like that's a pretty modest price to pay even if you're comfortable writing AI prompts to generate your memes and such. You could easily spend 15 minutes getting your prompts just right.
Smaller One Off Runs and Editions
One of my setbacks was that I printed 50 copies incorrectly. If I find a way to salvage some of them or turn them into something else, I might do a run of ten in a unique variant. No promises on that.
What about Shirts, Stickers, Actual Range Targets?
I appreciate all the interest in all of these things, but I'm going to start relatively small and see how it goes. I'm one guy. I answer the emails, record the TikToks, draw the images, print the images, package and ship the images. And I tend to bite off more than I can chew, so this is me consciously saying, "Woah, there."
So I'm not saying absolutely not to any of those things, but I'd almost rather license someone else to do it. Plus, I don't want to spend thousands of dollars getting actual targets or shirts made because 40 people said they would buy them, and then only 10 people do.
Thank You For Your Attention To This Matter
I'm off like a frog in a sock. Thank you again for all the likes, comments, and shares. It's hard being an independent artist these days. More information to follow. Take care.
